Jae Crowder

Al Horford

Boston Celtics

2015-16 Season Record: 48-34 (+8 wins from 2014-15)

Departures:

SG R.J. Hunter--> Bulls

G/F Evan Turner--> Trail Blazers

SF John Holland

C Jared Sullinger--> Raptors

The Celtics are finally turning a corner in the post-Paul Pierce era, but it had to come with a price. Sullinger, who has battled criticism over his weight and how he fits within the game plan, decided to jet to Toronto after Boston showed no interest. Evan Turner represents another interesting departure due to his versatility and ball-handling, which will now transfer to Marcus Smart or Terry Rozier among others. R.J. Hunter was a victim of the numbers game on the roster after failing to pull away from former lottery pick James Young.

Additions:

G/F Gerald Green (Heat)

C Al Horford (Hawks)

With an already overcrowded roster, I don't expect any of these rookies to make the roster. Horford represents a change in how Boston gets its players, representing the first marquee free agent signing in some time. He will immediately replace Sullinger in the starting lineup and give the team more passing lanes and shooting ability. Gerald Green represents another swingman with athleticism and scoring to complement defensive stoppers Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder.

Draft Picks: G/F Jaylen Brown (3rd), PG Demetrius Jackson (45th)

Team Needs: None

The worst pick to have in this past draft was third overall due to the presence of two great prospects in Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram. The Celtics, using one of Brooklyn's future draft choices from the Garnett & Pierce trade, selected Jaylen Brown, a swingman from Cal who was the #2 prospect in the class behind Simmons exiting high school. He is raw and needs time, but could find time at SF behind Crowder. Demetrius Jackson can be a part of many multi-guard lineups the Celtics will utilize this season.
