John Wall

Marcin Gortat

Washington Wizards

2015-16 Season Record: 41-41 (-5 wins from 2014-15)

Departures:

PG Ramon Sessions--> Hornets

G/F Alan Anderson--> Clippers

G/F Garrett Temple--> Kings

PF Jared Dudley--> Suns

F/C Drew Gooden

C J.J. Hickson--> China

C Nene Hilario--> Rockets

Wtith the exception of Gooden, I truly believe all of these players will be missed. Dudley and Nene played crucial minutes at PF and C and were key vets for a team with a young backcourt in Wall and Beal (even including Porter at SF). Temple played himself into a nice contract in Sacramento for his gritty defense while Sessions will now back up Kemba Walker in Charlotte.

Additions:

PG Trey Burke (Traded from Jazz)

SG Sheldon McClellan (Undrafted Rookie)

G/F Danuel House (Undrafted Rookie)

PF Andrew Nicholson (Magic)

C Ian Mahinmi (Pacers)

C Jason Smith (Magic)

I really liked what Ian Mahinmi did last season, I'm just not sure if he is the best fit on this team now with Gortat the entrenched starter. He could have earned more minutes elsewhere. Furthermore, I'm wondering why another $5 million was spent on Jason Smith to be a third center. The team gave Andrew Nicholson $26 million reasons to leave Orlando and he could be a key bench piece behind Markieff Morris. This is Trey Burke's chance to prove he belongs in the league otherwise he will be playing for training camp contracts next season.

Draft Picks: SG Tomas Satoransky (32nd- 2014)

Team Needs: Starting SG; Backup PG, SF

With the team's draft picks traded away, Washington brought over one of my favorite draft-stash players, Tomas Satoransky. An early 2nd round pick 2 years ago, Satoransky fits into the youth movement in the backcourt and has the versatility and court vision to play PG, SG, and SF. If Trey Burke or Kelly Oubre acts up early, I expect Satoransky to soak up most of those minutes.

Player Decisions:

SG Sheldon McClellan (.54 million non-guaranteed)--> Cut

G/F Danuel House (.54 million non-guaranteed)--> Cut

With only 12 guaranteed contracts on the books, one of these players would have to make the roster. I would personally pick Sheldon McClellan or Danuel House for their shooting and athleticism.

Draft and Stash Prospects:

F/C Aaron White (12th)

Current Roster (WAR/82):

PG Trey Burke (0)

PG John Wall (11.31)

SG Bradley Beal (1.48)

SG Sheldon McClellan (Rookie)

G/F Danuel House (Rookie)

SF Kelly Oubre (-.21)

SF Otto Porter (7.55)

PF Markieff Morris (3.47)

PF Andrew Nicholson (2.09)

C Marcin Gortat (7.94)

C Ian Mahinmi (7.03)

C Jason Smith (1.55)

Current WAR/82: 44.17

Projected Record: 40-42 (8th in East)
